Episode 47: Bubbles and Brollies
We’ve sent our old virtual friend Carmen Grape-iago back out into the wine world. Find out what unusual and unlikely (yet strangely familiar..) region she’s plodding through this time.
And Whitney and I give you the scoop on the crappy weather in western Europe this spring and summer…and what it means for our wine drinking habits in the next few years (hint: rosé lovers-stock up now!).
We’ve also reveal our findings of a laugh-out-loud Youtube music video which makes fun of ‘mixologists’ (for once, no digs at wine geeks!). Here’s a posh cocktail experience I had recently at Dukes Hotel in London. Dukes happens to hold the reputation of making the best martinis in Britain. Everyone knows my slightly worrying martini habit. So standards were high. Dukes lived up in every respect. This was one cracking martini.
The Crush Quickfire returns and we put Tamlyn Currin, the lovely lady behind Jancis Robinson’s Purple Pages, in the hot seat! Here’s a rather fun pic of us (she’s on my right) on a press trip together to Istria, Croatia earlier this year (is my colleague Simon trying to hit me in the head with a shovel…?!).
And finally, Spain’s most famous restaurant has sadly closed its doors…but is opening the doors of its wine cellar for one big amazing sale. Credit cards at the ready people!
